Robert L. Aaron, 82, a resident of Vienna, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2014, at 12:15 PM at the Autumn Ridge Supportive Living Center. Robert was a native of West Frankfort, Illinois and a former resident of Wolf Lake and Ashley, Illinois.

Robert was born November 11, 1931 to Carl Burl & Margaret Parrot (Ramsay) Aaron. He was united in marriage to Mary Sue Wardell on June 7, 1953 at Mt. Erie (Wayne County) Illinois. She survives.

Robert is also survived by: his children – Deborah Sue Aaron Inman and her husband Carl of Glen Carbon, IL, Steve Aaron and his wife Marilyn of Nashville, IL, Alex Aaron and his wife Juli of Midwest City, OK, Cathy Aaron Dull and her husband Ricky of Richland, MO, Dan Aaron and his wife Sharlee of Albion, IL, Julie Aaron Woodward, and her husband Scott of Englewood, CO; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters – Janet Whitsitt and her husband Ken, Margaret Marlatt, and Laura Faye Burns and her husband Jim.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Ronald and Thomas Aaron.

Robert was a lifelong educator. He had served in the Cisne, Sesser-Valier, Shawnee, and Ashley school districts.

Robert was an avid outdoorsman. In his retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, March 8, 2014, at 10:30 AM at the Dixon Springs Baptist Church. Pastor Ron Jackson and Pastor Bill Littrell will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in the Rock community in Pope County Illinois.

Visitation will be conducted Friday evening, March 7, 2014, from 4 PM – 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Dixon Springs Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund, or VNA/TIP Hospice.
