Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion, VFW and National Guard units of Redwood Falls at the cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Redwood Falls; children, Vicki Doth and her husband John of Blaine, Pat Serbus and her husband Brian, Linda U'Ren and her husband Mike, Rick R.J. Mariner and his wife Judy, all of Redwood Falls, Tim Mariner and his wife Rhonda of Apple Valley; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Nathline "Nap" Kiddie of Colorado; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Frank "George" and Betty Mariner of Sleepy Eye, and Donald "Lefty" and Pat Mariner of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank "Pops" and Genevieve Mariner; brothers, Henry "Ray" Mariner and Forrest "Fizz" Mariner.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1932, in Sanborn to Frank Quick and Genevieve (Madson) Mariner.
He attended Sanborn Public Schools.
He married to Lois Arlene Johnson on July 19,1952, in Seattle, Wash.
He served in the United States Army from 1949 - 1954 during the Korean War.
After returning from the service they lived in Springfield for four years, in Blaine, in Springfield when he owned and operated the Skelly Station and then moved to Redwood Falls.He worked with his brothers and his son doing carpentry jobs.
He worked as shop foreman at Scott-Pruesse from 1965-1976 was a salesman there from 1976-1978.
He worked as a sales manager at Tieg's Chevrolet in Wabasso from 1978-1980, and from 1980-1995 he worked for the Kohls-Wheelborg Ford Dealership in Redwood Falls as a shop foreman.
He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, the Redwood Falls American Legion and VFW and was part of the drill team.
During his retirement he was grounds keeper for the Redwood Falls Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials.
