Gypsie M. Tanner Allen, 74, of Hurricane died Aug. 18, 1996 at Teays Valley Convalescent Center. She was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Charles and Eva Wilson Tanner. She was a retired employee of Spencer State Hospital and Apple Creek State Hospital in Ohio and was a former justice of the peace in Calhoun County. Surviving are one daughter, Virginia Parsons of Hurricane; two brothers, Haymond Tanner and Charles Tanner, both of Massillon Ohio; one grandson, Michael Butler of Huntington; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Glenn Allen. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial will be in Otto Cemetery.
