AUSTIN -- Robert L. Bahl, 89, of 909 11th St. N.W., a retired Hormel Foods Corp. supervisor, died Wednesday morning (Jan. 3, 1996) at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea.
He was born July 19, 1906 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and attended Emmetsburg schools until moving to Freeborn County, Minn., with his family in April 1919. He had resided in Austin since 1928 and was employed at Hormel for 43 years before his retirement in 1971. On Oct. 14, 1933, he married Signe Hanson in Glenville, Minn. Mr. Bahl was a member of the Eagles Club and St. Olaf Lutheran Church, a past member of the Moose Lodge and a social member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert, Gary and Dennis, all of Austin; three daughters, Linda (Mrs. Terry) Foreman of Pearl, Miss., Julie (Mrs. Geoffrey) Ecoff of Minnetonka, Minn., and Bonnie (Mrs. Daniel) Ruble of Albert Lea; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Bahl of Mapleview, Minn. He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and eight sisters.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. James I. Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
