Samuel Reed with an ordinary English education studied law and practiced it successfully in Martinsburg, VA. He died about 1808 in New Orleans. Samuel Reed was a Lieutenant in the War of the Revolution and Colonel in the "Whiskey Rebellion." He married Anne Kennedy, daughter of Col. David Kennedy of Frederick county in 1762. He left one son James Randolph, who died in the War 1812 at sea. He had three daughters, Maria, who married Alexander Cooper, five children, buried in the Old Presbyterian graveyard, Norbourne, Martinsburg, Va., Eliza Strawbridge married Samuel Baker, they had eight children. Eliza and Samuel Baker are buried at Martinsburg.
