Helena Sanning and Wilhelm (William) Berendzen were married 2 May 1854 at Taos, Cole, Missouri

Unknown Publication, February 1920

Helena Berendzen was born in Germany and came to this side with her parents when only a few years old. She departed this life February 22, 1920, at the age of 83 years and 5 months. She died of pneumonia after a short illness. All medical aid and loving hands could do would not stay the grim reaper.

Her husband and daughter, Margaret, preceded her to the grave 28 years ago. She is survived by 6 sons and 5 daughters: Henry of Oklahoma, John, Frank, Ben, Herman and William of Mary's Home, Mrs. Mary Hemmel of Jefferson City, Mrs. Katie Bungart, Mrs. Adeline Morgan, and Mrs. John Schulte of Mary's Home. They all attended the funeral, except Henry, who had just been out on a visit a short time before her death.

She was staying with her daughter, Mrs. John Schulte, at the time of her death. Mrs. John Schulte's home was a pitiful scene, as the whole family were ill and unable to attend the funeral. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. P.J. Weber on Feb. 24.

Thanks N.T.
