Lillian is a daughter of George Jorgen Ilard Nielsen and Maria Clara Thoreson. George had immigrated from Denmark. Maria had immigrated from Norway. She is her father's thirteenth child and her mother's eighth child. Her father had married her mother after his first wife died. George was one of the first settlers in Hyrum, Utah. Lillian grew up there, married, and had most of her children before moving to Salem, Idaho about 1920.
Lillian married Willard Julius Johnson on October 26, 1903. They became parents to seven children: Darrell Willard, Julian, Lavinna Claire, Ruby Emogene, Layle George, Valoie, and Harold Blaine.
Lillian died of a heart attack at age 72.
