"Mrs. Elizabeth T. Piper, 79 years of age on June 3, 1911, died at the home of her son, Hiram Piper, 6 miles northwest of Keytesville at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 1911.

Mrs. Piper was born in Kentucky, but lived nearly all her life in Greene county, Illinois. She was married to Wesley Piper at the age of 17 in Greene county. Of their six children, three survive: Hiram Piper, James A. Piper and William Piper.

Mrs. Piper united at an early age with the Baptist church and lived a life consistent with its doctrine till the hour of her death. For years she had been in poor health but, sustained by her faith, bore her affliction with Christian patience and fortitude.

She came last May to spend her remaining days with her son, Hiram. Her remains were laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Tuesday, July 25, 1911 at 11 a.m., Rev. Deweese conducting the service." Chariton Courier, July 28, 1911
