He was born on March 24, 1925 to Leslie and Alice (Bullock) Abbott in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Donald worked in automotive industry, and also served his country in the United States Army during WWII, then went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He once attended Noblesville Nazarene Church, was a member of the American Legion, and the Noblesville VFW. He enjoyed racing, polishing rocks, fishing, camping, and anything outdoors.
He is survived by his grandson, Jay (Erin) Portman; great-grandson, Jay Michael Portman II; brother, Harold Abbott; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Sells) Abbott; daughter, Patricia Ann Abbott; brother, Carl V. Abbott; sister, Wanda Mae Johnson; and great-grandson, Isaiah Portman.
