Loretta Jean Roberts, 77, of Coffeyville, Kansas, heeded the Lord's call to come home on Tuesday evening, March 4, 2014. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Services with Bro. Robert Glasgow officiating and under the direction of David Barnes Funeral Home will be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, rural Wann, OK, on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Robbins Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the David Barnes Funeral Home on Friday, March 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Jean was born February 8, 1937, to George A. and Julia "Eddy" (Conners) King in rural Wann, (Noxie area), OK. She attended school at the rural Oakdale grade school and graduated from Wann High School in 1955.

She married her high school sweetheart Howard Wayne "Ike" Roberts in Gulfport, Mississippi, on June 25, 1955 after her graduation from high school. They made their home in Biloxi, MS, and Warrensburg, MO, until Ike was discharged from the US Air Force and they returned to the Wann area. They moved to their home in Coffeyville in 1971.

Jean worked most of her younger life. Employers included Kress, Phillips, CLIC, Lee's Truck Stop, Medicalodge, Box Factory, City Publishing, and First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Coffeyville. She retired from Coffeyville Community College where she also earned her Associate Degree.

She did ceramics and loved to read romance novels. She and Ike often followed the CCC Red Ravens on the road as well as going to home games. She was a member of PSI and Modern Woodmen and served on the Coffeyville Public Library Board. When her children were young she helped with 4-H in Wann and attended many of their ball games and band and choir concerts. She loved to attend the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they grew.

Jean grew up in the small Pentecostal Church near her home and was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and grandson Dickie Frost.

She is survived by her children: Vivian and Dick Frost, Coffeyville, KS, Deena and Mike Testerman, Dearing, KS, Jeff and Linda Roberts, Bartlesville, OK, and Greg Roberts Coffeyville, KS; grandchildren: Amber and James Glass, Ellie and Lance Chickadonz, Andrew and Heather Brinker, Amanda and Blair Millemon, Amy Brinker, Katy and Taylor Martin, Jeffrey Roberts Jr., Justin and Ashley Roberts, Paige and Eric Moss, Jai Ja Arnold White, Erin and David Warren, Kayla Furry, Logan Furry, Jimmy Frost, and Sheryl Grier; great-grandchildren: Nikki, Brionna, and Jaime Glass, Kaiden and Devryn Roberts, Caitlyn and Cameron Briggs, Abby and Clara Chickadonz, Heidi and Gabe Millemon, Israel Williams, Emma, Abby, and Jackson Warren, Abby Furry, Brittney and Derek Frost, Terry and Tabby Grier, and Jesika White; sisters: Alice Wright, Coffeyville, Shirley and DeWayne Newton, Tyro, Carol and Paul Benson, Tyro, and Kathy and Larry Seigel, Coffeyville; sister-in-laws and brothers-in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; and her church family.
