Reba Jean Etheridge Roberts was born August 27, 1929 in Calhoun County, MS and died peacefully on February 23, 2014 at Serenity House in Santa Barbara, CA.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Teresa Martin of Biloxi, MS, Patricia Gayle Blanchard of Nashville, TN and Nancy Roberts of Santa Barbara, CA. She has three grand-daughters, Shannon, Leana and Jennifer, and four great grand-children, Tessa, Kaitlyn, Jaston and Chad. She also has two sisters, Jimmy Vowel of Tyler, TX and Alice Ann Synnott of Jackson, MS. Reba also has two sons-in-love and law, Bruce Ohannessian and Michael Paulk.
Reba lived most of her life in Mississippi where she was the wife of Rev. Jack Roberts. She was the best mom and grandmother, earning the title "sweet little memaw". She was a beautiful, sweet and kind lady. After years of being a stay-at-home mom, she worked as a bookkeeper at Merchants Bank in Gulfport. She and Jack retired to Vardaman in 1989 to live in the same house they were married in 1950. They lived there 15 years until Jack passed away in 2005. Reba then moved to Nashville where she lived until 2010 when she moved to Santa Barbara. She was a resident at Garden Court where she was a Wii bowling champ, a regular at the Mexican Train game table and flower arranging, and when able, was part of the walking group. She helped with the cookie sale and with stuffing envelopes for charity events. Reba spent her last months at the beautiful Serenity House where she received amazing love and care from the staff and volunteers. The Dream Foundation granted her a dream and brought her family to Santa Barbara for a visit, which included a surprise visit from Priscilla Presley. Reba said "not in my wildest dreams did I think I would meet Priscilla Presley". Reba said she wanted "to die with grace and love" and this is exactly what she did. She died as she lived. She left a legacy of gifts that keep on giving to her children. May she rest in peace and love.
