Passed away on March 5, 2014. Elizabeth was born in Wilmington, DE. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Ash) Carpenter. She worked in the food service department at Hercules Corporation, and retired from Red Clay Consolidated School District and in post-retirement worked for Happy Harry's Home Health Center. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, beach vacations and "arm chair" traveling. She was devoted to her family which gave her much enjoyment. Her husband, Oliver J. Adkins, predeceased her in 1981 and her sister Elsie Jackson in 2012.

She will be dearly missed by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joann R. and Bob Rafferty of Wilmington and Eleanor and Lester Elliott of Delmar, DE; and her grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin (Audrey) Rafferty, Kerry (Patrick O'Connell), Terri (Tom) Mooney, and Wayne (Stephanie) Elliott. Also surviving are her sister, Sarah Snyder of Wilmington, her brother, Robert L. (Joan) Carpenter of Dover, DE, seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and three nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a favorite charity . The family wishes to thank the staff at Churchman Village Nursing Home for the extraordinary love and care they provided.
