Mr. Angelo Coppola died early morning on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at his daughter's home in New Brunswick. He was 86 years old. Mr. Coppola was born in Manhattan, grew up in one of his favorite places Little Italy, moved to Brooklyn and thereafter settled in New Brunswick in 1950. He was a longtime parishioner and usher at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick and belonged to the Golden Age Club. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Mgsr. Mugnano Council #6572 and a member of the New Brunswick Elks. Mr. Coppola was known in New Brunswick, North Brunswick and Franklin Township for his keen eye as a Little League Baseball and Men's Softball Umpire. He also acted as a basketball referee in the New Brunswick and North Brunswick Recreational Leagues as well as a baseball and woman's softball coach. Aside from being a jokester and good singer on many bus trips to Atlantic City, he was also a good bowler, having a perfect game to his credit. After his many years of employment with Triangle Cable in New Brunswick; he retired from Rutgers University after 10 years of employment in the Facilities Management Department.

He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Leonora Coppola in 2013. He was also predeceased by his sister, Ann Vito. Mr. Coppola is survived by his children, Nancy Coppola and her husband Kevin McTernan of New Brunswick and Albert Coppola and his wife Susan of Edison. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael and his wife Danielle, Albert, Cokie, Jennifer and her husband Joe Coiro and Kimberly and her husband Jonathan Mitchell and 4 great grandchildren, Alexander, Angelina, Owen, and Joey.

Services will begin on Monday morning at 9:15 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset followed by a 10 AM funeral mass at St. Mary of Mount Virgin Church on Remsen Avenue in New Brunswick. Subsequent interment will be at St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick. Friends and Family may visit from 3-7 PM on Sunday at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset.
