DIED - Mrs. Nancy Sowers, wife of Lafayette Sowers, died at her home three miles west of Brainard, Friday morning, January 28, aged 68 years 3 months and 23 days. Deceased was born in Green Co., Penn., October 6, 1829 and on February 17, 1849 she was married to Lafayette Sowers. In 1855 they moved to Illinois residing there 17 years and in 1873 moved to Butler county where she has since resided. She was the mother of eleven children four of whom are dead and seven who, with her husband, survive her. Mrs. Sowers was well respected by her neighbors and all with whom she became acquainted, and her death causes profound sorrow in that neighborhood. The funeral services occurred on Thursday at the M. E. church in Brainard, Rev. Wm. Axling of Lincoln, officiating. The remains were interred in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Mrs. Lafayette Sowers, who resided southeast of town, was found dead in her bed last Thursday morning. She was very old but was in ordinary good health when she retired the night before. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Axling, at the M. E. church in Brainard, Monday.
