Elmer Haynes, 79, Seminole resident, died March 2, 2014 in St. Anthony's Shawnee Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was born March 1, 1935 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Henry Clay Haynes and Nicey (Jacobs) Haynes.

Elmer was a longtime Prague resident and moved to Seminole 1 ½ years ago. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Prague. Elmer worked for the City of Prague, Oklahoma, as a water meter reader, Prague Hospital, as a maintenance supervisor, for many years, and for Dolly Madison Company in California in his younger years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of the Creek/Seminole Nations of Oklahoma.

Elmer was loved by many people and was friends to everyone. He was known as never meeting a stranger.

Elmer was married to Roxie Shirlene(Miller) Haynes on November 16, 1956 and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2011.

Elmer married Christine (Fish) Haynes on October 19, 2012 in Meeker, Oklahoma.

Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife Christine Haynes of Seminole, Oklahoma, Sons, Delbert and Vickie Haynes of Seminole and James " Chabbit" Haynes of Prague, Oklahoma and step-son Keith Dinwiddie of Edmond, Oklahoma, his daughters, Karen Littlehead of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Andrea Haynes of Prague, Oklahoma, Delberta Vallejo and Andrew of Seattle, Washington, Katherine (Kat) Clemons and Justin of Shawnee, Oklahoma and a step-daughter Krystle Neese of Moore, Oklahoma. Two brothers, Bill Haynes, of Seminole, Oklahoma and Vernon Haynes of Fort McDowell, Arizona; his three sisters, Pauline Forrest, of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Louina Crofut of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and Pauline Counts of Henryetta.His grandchildren, Danita Vallejo, April Bullard, Verina Canada, Denise Vallejo, Nathan Henry, Leanne Collier, A-yo Henry, Mes-ke Collier, Maylee Dawn Clemons, his great grandchildren, Nayana Scott, Harlee Bullard, Imani Scott, Ethan " Bon" Simpson, Kynlee Bullard, Roxie Mae Simpson and Kiesyn Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Roxie, in 2011, his son Curtis Dean Haynes; two brothers, Hoover Haynes and Sonny James Haynes and sister Evelyn Quinton.

Funeral services are planned for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Freewill Baptist Church on 14th street in Prague, Oklahoma, with Rev. Randall Miller officiating, with burial to follow at Little Cemetery with U.S. Naval honors.

Wake services will be Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Casket bearers will be A-yo (Hawk) Haynes, Mike Winab, Marty Haynes, Billy (Ponch) Haynes, Reo Miller and Joey Jackson. Honorary bearers will be Vernon Haynes, Darold Haynes, Donnie Crofut, James Haynes, Delbert Haynes, Nathan Henry and Bill Haynes.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
