Marvin C. Massey, 70, Nampa, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at his home.

Marvin Charles Massey went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. He was 70 years old. Marvin was born on March 23, 1943 in Heppner, Oregon to Albert Lee and Juanita Alice Morgan Massey. At the age of six Marvin lost his father, Albert Lee Massey. His mother later married John "Crocket" Sprouls and the family moved to Condon where Marvin attended school. During High school, Marvin excelled in sports and set a school record by lettering in 4 different sports all four years of high school, graduating in 1962. Marvin played football at Oregon Technical Institute. During the summers Marvin worked on ranches and drove a combine for a custom harvesting crew.

In 1963, Marvin met Karen Lee Zachary, and on September 11, 1965 they were married in Fossil Oregon. They made their home on Rock Creek where he worked as a farmer and their daughter Jennifer was born May 16, 1967. A few years later they moved back to Fossil and on May 10, 1972, they had a son named Joseph. Marvin continued farming, worked for the State Forestry and then for a Kinzua Logging company skidding logs. Once the mill closed down Marvin went to work for May Trucking Company and the family moved to Mt Angel, Oregon where he retired after nearly 30 years driving truck.

Marvin enjoyed working with machinery, animals, roping, anything he could do with his hands to create a needed task. Marvin has great memories of the Bit n' Spur Club and the Fossil Fair and Rodeo where he roped and dogged steers. He loved his children and enjoyed teaching and playing with them. Marvin is now in God's presence, visiting with his dad Albert, uncle Howard, nephew Mark, cousin Dennis, friend Michael and many others he met along the way.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Karen of Nampa, Idaho, daughter, Jennifer Marie Anderson of Orting, Washington, son, Joseph Albert Massey of Mt. Angel, Oregon; sisters, Janet Phillips of Condon, Oregon and Connie Brown of Roseburg, Oregon; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and an exchange student from Italy, Andrea Ferrario, who became family along with his Italian family, Mario, Tiziana, and Giulia.

Memorial Services will be held at Lakeview Bible Church, Nampa, Idaho, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 10:30. A second service will be held in Fossil Oregon in the near future
