Arnold C. Thompson Sr., 59, of 170 W. Simmons died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1992, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.
Born Oct. 27, 1932, in rural Victoria, he married Darlene Briggs on Nov. 19, 1953, in Galesburg. She died July 23, 1980. He also was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Carol Sue Morris of Galesburg; six sons, Eugene Thompson of Maquon, Junior Thompson and Jimmy Thompson, both of Galesburg, Don Thompson of Rock Island, Jerry Thompson of East Galesburg and Billy Thompson of Abingdon; one stepson, Robert Briggs of St. Augustine; 15 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Cadwell and Loretta Wells, both of Galesburg, and Betty Patrick of Bloomington; and four brothers, Tom and Dave, both of Galva, and James and Virgil, both of Galesburg.
He was raised and educated in the Victoria area and was a farmer. He also was a molder at the Galva Foundry and the Aluminum Castings Co., in Galesburg.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wataga Cemetery. The Rev. Milton Marquith will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville.
