Susan (Bailey) Baas was born in Coupeville, WA, on May 23, 1954. She died in Olympia, WA, on March 3, 2014. She was the wife of Bill Baas; mother of James, Willy, Jerome, and Justin Baas; and grandmother to Kenzie, Natalie, Maggie, Ally, Kole, Willy Jr., Bailey, Jerome Jr., Justus, and Ethan Baas. She is the daughter of Robert and Marilyn (Libbey) Bailey, and sister to Russell, Bob, Bonnie, Julie, and Rosie. Susan grew up in Coupeville and went to business college in Seattle. Bill and Susan were childhood friends who married in 1974. They raised their children in Coupeville, Tumwater, and Rochester, WA. Susan worked for the state as a medical specialist for the last 20 years. Family was everything to Susan. She loved being a mother and gloried in being a grandmother. She could make anything, from a garden shed to pajamas, from fairy houses to dolls, from tables to doilies. If she could see it, she could make it, and if she loved you, she would give you whatever she made. Susan will be missed by so many people: family, friends, co-workers, classmates, and her dog, Betty. Please plant a tree or flowers instead of sending flowers--that's what Susan would like. A potluck Celebration of Susan's Life will be held at 6024 193rd Ave. SW, Rochester, WA on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. A brief graveside burial will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, WA on Saturday, March 8 at 3:00 p.m., followed by a gathering at the Nordic Hall on Jacobs Road. Family and friends are invited to attend. Please leave memories at www.FuneralAlternatives.org
