While both Alfred and Anna were working at Park City, Utah they attended a Swedish social and were introduced. After a short courtship, they were married on 6 November 1901 at Salt Lake City, Utah

Alfred worked at several smelters in Salt Lake Valley but soon settled at American Smelting & Refining Co. in Murray City, Utah where he worked for 33 year.

About 1910 they had saved enough to purchase one acre and build a home at 4612 So. 2nd West in Murray City, Utah where they remained.

Alfred & Anna never owned a car and walked to work, to church, to town for shopping, etc. They did not have a radio until the kids were grown and moved on. They mostly spoke Swedish at home though both could read, write and speak English. They never saw a television set. Their son's did own cars by their late teenage years.

They also built a small cow barn & pig pen and a small chicken coup (about 40 X 25 feet). There was an irrigation ditch running along the back, west side, of the property. They set about to raise their own potatoes & vegetables, their own cow for milk,. There was always a 50 gal. wooden barrel with well salted pork to preserve it. They had chickens for eggs and meat. They also loved fish which was purchased from the grocer. They built a good, below ground, cellar for food storage at the back of their house.

Their children are:
1- Elsa Margaret Marie (1903 - 1981)
2- Irvin Alfred (1904 – 1983)
3- Anna Viola (1906 – 1990)
4- Ruth Edith (1909 – 1992)
5- Elmer Joseph (1911 – 1992)
6- Harry Melvin (1914 – 2003)
7- Living (1916 -
8- Neils Robert (1918 – 1944)

Mother (Anna) had a stroke, was paralyzed and could not speak. She died of stroke & heart complications, 13 Dec 1947.

After Mother (Anna) died Dad (Alfred) was very lonely without her. He stayed with his children for about 9 months before he to died 13 Dec 1947. He was stricken with lead poisoning while working. They claimed he died of "Progeria myaopathy" (old age). But he died of a broken heart, mourning the love of his wife.
