He was the son of the late Everett Boyd and Nell Waggstaff Boyd, and was a native of Giles County. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva Franklin Boyd; daughters: Angela Boyd, Shena Boyd, and Ava Anderson; son Steven Kinnard of Hohenwald; sister Mary Florence Boyd, brother Kelsey Boyd, and 12 grandchildren.
