Mr. Michael Leonard Hatton, age 56, of Columbia died Monday, December 2, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, December 6, 2013 from noon - 1 pm at New Harvest Family Church with services to follow at 1 pm at the Church with Bishop Carl McCullen eulogist.

The body will lie-in-state Thursday from 11 am – 6 pm at VK Ryan & Son Funeral Home.

Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

VK Ryan & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Bobby and Virginia Hatton. He attended the Maury County school system graduating from Central High School in 1975. He attended Tennessee State University of a four year Vocal Scholarship.

Michael started singing at the early age of six and recorded his first demo on a 45 record at the age of ten. The soulful Tenor had an abundant musical history working with artist such as Jimmy Ellis, former heavy weight Champion of the Word, Clarence Fountain of the Five Blind Boys, Gloria Spencer, Willie Nelson, The Gospel Keynotes, Jackson Southernaires, Al McKay and Ralph Johnson of Earth Wind and Fire, Melvin Coleman of the Whispers, Nate Watts of the Stevie Wonder band and Otis Stockley of Lakeside he also worked with James Jameson Jr. of Motown.

He was employed by the Maury Regional Medical Center.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother Bobby Joe Hatton and sister Angela Hatton.

Survivors include his devoted wife Darlene Whittaker Hatton; daughter Keianna; step daughters Crystal and Cassie Mathers; son Micheal (Dameka) Davis; step son Shuan (Sharlane) Oliver; mother in law Jimmie Whittaker; father in law William Whittaker; sister Vivian (Stephen) Armstrong; brothers Ronald Hatton, Tony (Sylvia) Hatton, Robert (Carol) Hatton, Christopher (Michell) Hatton; aunts Frances Holt, Birdie (Bobby) Hilliard, Clara (Edward) Gillespie; uncles Raymond (Callie) Aiden and Donald Aiden; twenty grandchildren, several devoted god children, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
