BRODHEAD - Mennick Ringen, 80, a retired farmer, died suddenly at 7 p.m. Thursday after suffering a heart attack in his home here. With the exception of four years spent in South Dakota he had lived in the Brodhead area until his retirement in 1951 when he and his wife moved to Brodhead. Born in Newark Township, Rock County, June 23, 1884, the son of Martin and Martha Brurude Ringen, he married Gena Gilbertson Feb. 17, 1910, in Janesville, the late Rev. W. A. Johnson, Lutheran pastor, officiating. They farmed in Newark Township until moving to Brodhead. He was a member of East Luther Valley Lutheran Church, Orfordville. Survivors are his wife; a son, Lowell, of Brodhead; two grandchildren, Gary Ringen, Darlington, and Mrs. Michael Ford, Madison; a brother, Nels Ringen, Orfordville, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Anderson, Beloit. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Newcomer Funeral Home, the Rev. Erling Fretheim, East Luther Valley Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
