Former Carson Matron Dies on Coast

"Mrs. Edward V. Muller, former resident of Carson died yesterday in San Francisco following a long period of ill health. Laura Bartine Muller, eldest child of Horace F. and Lydia M. Bartine, was born in Dover, N.J. and came to Nevada in 1876 with her mother and sister Amy. Mr. Bartine had preceded his family to Nevada where he established a law practice in Carson. Mrs. Muller received her education in Carson schools. Her father served two terms as Representative to Congress from Nevada and was later appointed Chairman of the Railroad Commission by Gov. John Sparks. The Railroad Commission was later changed to the Public Service Commission and Mr. Bartine occupied the position as Chairman until his death in 1918. Mrs. Muller's husband died in 1934. Mrs. Muller was the oldest member in point of membership of the Woman's Relief Corps. of Carson, having joined the order in 1888. She was a member of the Carson Woodcraft Lodge for thirty-five years. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Liva Bartine McCabe, a nephew Owen McCabe, and a grand-nephew Patrick McCabe of San Francisco. Funeral services will be held at Carson Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Kitzmeyer-Elges parlor. The Rev. J. L. Harvey will officiate."
