Wayne Leroy Stevens died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Watsonville Community Hospital. He was 85.
A native of Springfield, Colorado, Mr. Stevens lived in the Watsonville area for more than 80 years. He was a self-employed dairy farmer, for which he received many awards ant trophies. He enjoyed birding and was known as the bird man of Watsonville.
Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor B. Stevens of Watsonville; sisters, Shirley Harding of Scotts Valley, Doris Owens of Texas and Gladys Garrett of Watsonville; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place today from 4-8 p.m., and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a funeral at 1 p.m., at Davis Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Bethel Tabernacle Remodeling Fund.
