WEAVERVILLE—Edna Uvilia Johnson Massey "Granny" who had been residing with her great granddaughter, Nicole Maltry LeMieux at 32 Colby drive in Weaverville went home to be with Jesus her Lord and Savior and all her loved ones that had died in the Lord.

She departed this world on Tuesday, March 4th after a period of declining health. She was born in Greeneville, TN on March 12, 1932 to the late Jonah and Lilly Johnson. She was the wife of the late George P. Massey of whom she had been married to for 67 years at the time of his death in July of 2012. She was raised on a farm and had worked hard all of her life. She was as down to earth, "humble", as anyone could possibly be and that was only one of her many virtues. She was a loving, caring, nurturing, and compassionate person who loved everyone with a heart as big as an ocean. She always had a kind word for everyone and a willingness to help anyone in need especially her family. She loved the simpler things in life like pretty flowers, birds, and springtime. She will be tremendously missed by all who loved her and has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled. We were privileged as her family to have been blessed with her presence all of these years and if we would have had a choice we would not have chosen anyone other than her to be born to or to be raised by. She was a true Godly lady in every aspect of life. We take extreme comfort in that fact and we know that because of her acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior that she is in heaven with him and all of her loved ones that preceded her in death with the testimony of salvation through Jesus. She cannot and would not return unto us but through and by the grace of God we can and will go to be with her. She was 8 days short of her 82nd birthday of which she always enjoyed with friends and family. She had a lot of good birthdays but this one will be the best. Rest in peace Granny, we love you dearly.

Left behind here to cherish her memory are five children, Larry Massey and wife Vera, Linda Edwards and husband Dorsey, Pat Coker, Susan Proffitt and husband Gary, and Steve Massey and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Kim Angie, Pam, Sheila, Chris, Tammy, Tennille, Crystal, Jacob, and Stephanie; sixteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren who were very precious to her and helped make her last years very special. Also left to cherish her memory are two brothers, Jay and Lloyd; three sisters, Dorothy, Charlotte, and Evelyn; a special niece Karen Fox and many other nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were 3 brothers, Jack, Charles, and Johnny, one sister, Marie and one precious child Barbara who died in the Lord in 1983. After 30 years apart, they have been reunited in a land where there will be no more tears, suffering, or death. Thank you Jesus.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 in Mt. Sheba Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Rhinehart, Jeff Massey and Charles Rogers officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery.
