Killed on B & O Railroad. Name in burial record appears as P. J. In census records, he appears as Patrick Joseph.

Evening Times; Cumberland, Maryland, Friday, January 18, 1924: “With solemn requiem high mass, of Patrick James Mackin, 14 Race St., will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery.  The pallbearers will be Patrick W. Rurke and Patrick Coyle, representing the Knights of Columbus; J. W. Minear and J. Packett of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainman; Joseph King and J. Codire  of the Holy Name Society.  Mr. Mackin was found dead along the tracks of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad near Mt. Lake Park on Wednesday morning.  The cause of death is unknown.  Mr. Mackin was a conductor on the B & O railroad.” (Courtesy of Pat Dailey)
