John D. Martin MULLINS - Mrs. John Dew Martin, 83, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Mullins Nursing Center after an extended illness. Mr. Martin was born April 6, 1930 in Marion County, a son of the late Whitton Albert Martin, Sr. and the late Donnie Rogers Martin. He was the former owner and operator of radio station WAGL in Lancaster and former owner of Sassy Miss Shop in Mullins. He was a US Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Martin was a member of Mullins Presbyterian Church, where he served as Deacon. Surviving Mr. Martin are: his Wife: Nancy Belk Martin of the home and formerly of Lancaster; 2 Sons: Harrell (Melonie) Martin of Irmo and DuRant (Tonya) Martin of Mullins; his Grandchildren: Jennifer (Aaron) Wilson, Kristin Martin, Jonathan Martin, Lindsay Martin, Megan Martin and Ashley Martin; his Great Grandchildren: Christopher Ryan Stewart, Abel Wilson and Belle Wilson; a Stepdaughter: Lisa (Eddy) Daves of Peidmont, OK; a Stepson: David (Stacy) Jones of Bunn, N.C.; 4 Step-Grandchildren; a Step-Great Grandson; 2 Sisters: Sug M. Fenters and Donnie M. Hughes, both of Mullins; a Brother: Buddy (Peggy) Martin of Fort Mill; and several loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was predeceased by his first wife, Lily Durant Martin; a daughter, Catherine D. Martin; a brother, Whitton A. Martin, Jr. and 4 Sisters, Mary Sue M. Blount, Dancil M. McKenzie, Grace M. Ellis and Martha M. "Monk" McLane. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, March 6, from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. in the Mullins Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of Mullins Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jason Brewer officiating. Burial will be held at 3:30 P.M. at the Bishopville Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bishopville, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mullins Presbyterian Church, P.O.
