John Robert Ethridge, 84, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2012 in Fort Worth.

Committal with Military Honors: 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Service: 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Biggers Funeral Chapel.

John Robert Ethridge was born November 5, 1929 in Lindsay, Oklahoma. The family moved to Sundown where John graduated from high school in 1948. He played basketball for Texas Christian University and was an All Time Letterman. John received his degree in Bachelors Degree in Education in 1952. He served in the United States Army in 1954 and continued his education earning his Masters Degree in Psychology from Boston College.

He served as Head Basketball Coach for Amarillo High School for 7 seasons. He later became a general agent for Reserve Life Insurance until his retirement.

Mr. Ethridge was preceded in death by his wife, two children and his parents.

Survivors include his children: Kriss and Kamie Ethridge, Bartow and Joe Frank Dean; brother, Doug Ethridge; sister, Kathy Hogue; and a very large extended family.
