Yvonne R. (Maxwell) Cook, 62, of Elkton, MD passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

Today the world is a little darker, while Heaven is a lot brighter. Yvonne made her journey; in death as in life she has led the way for the rest of her family. Yvonne spent most of her life being a loving wife and mother and the last thirteen years being, in the words of her grandchildren, "an awesome Mom-mom."

Yvonne was born January 14, 1952 in Harmon, VA. She graduated from Elkton High School, Class of 1971. Many will remember her as the majorette of the high school marching band, leading the way even then. Others will remember her as the lady at the front desk at Clara Campbell Law Office, always smiling and trying to make someone's day a little brighter, running in and out of the court house and banks every day. Others will remember her as the Mom and Mom-mom who was present at every event and spent summers in the pool with the grandchildren or riding 4-wheelers with grandchildren on the back. I will always remember the cute little redhead I first met on October 12, 1964 whom I will love for the rest of my life. I was blessed to meet Yvonne when I was 12 years old and marry her June 2, 1973 at age 19. The last 40 years she has shown her children, grandchildren, and me the meaning of happiness and served as an example to many others the joys of life. Yvonne never met a stranger or saw a need that she did not try to fill. I can truly say, she was the best person I ever knew. If you were one of the lucky ones who called her friend, you were truly blessed, and if you ever had the honor of knowing Yvonne, then you will always remember her.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Les Cook; 4 children, Jamie D. Cook and his wife, Lillian Cook, Theresa J. Coutant and her husband, Stephen, Pascale Cook-Fernandes and her husband, Brian, and Yvonne D. "Peanut" Lagano and her husband, Rocco; 11 grandchildren, James and Julia Cook, Madeleine and Harrison Coutant, Isabele, Ian, and Noah Fernandes, and Dylan, Madyson, Kaitlyn, and Kierstyn Lagano; mother, Renee Maxwell; brothers Fred and George Maxwell; and sisters, Marie Betton, Christine Kosior, and Michelle Foraker. Yvonne was preceded in death by her father, Fred D. Maxwell.

A visitation will be held in Yvonne's honor, Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 6 to 8PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 452 E. Bow St., Elkton, MD 21921.

Burial will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Chesapeake City, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hackerman-Patz House at Sinai Hospital and sent in care to the funeral home.
