Robert "Bob" Linwood King, 72, died Friday, May 12 2000, in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born Dec. 14, 1927, in Pulaski, he was the son of the late Grace Grubb King and Thomas C. King. He was well-known for many years as the friendly jogger, dressed in red, waving to everyone in Pulaski, a member of the Gideons International, a well-known volunteer with the Pulaski Health Care Center for over 15 years, and an active volunteer with the area Hospices. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Duncan King.

He is survived by a son, Gary Dean King, Pulaski; two sisters, P. Ann King, Pulaski; Cheryl King Underwood, Draper; two brothers, F. Wayne King, Fredericksburg; John T. King, Roanoke.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Faith Bible Church, with the Rev. Jim Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, where the V.F.W. Post 1184 will conduct military graveside rites. Visiting will be any time Saturday after 2 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends may also call at the home of Bob's sister, P. Ann King, 1131 Camper St., Pulaski. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Faith Bible Church, 110 LaGrange St., Pulaski, VA 24301; to the American Cancer Society, New River Valley Unit, P. O. Box 554, Roanoke, VA 24003-0554; or to the Gideons International, P. O. Box 1409, Dublin, VA 24084.
