Wayne D. Hendrickson, 68, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Wayne Douglas Hendrickson was born July 14, 1945, the son of Oswald and Bernice (Lomsdahl) Hendrickson in Moorhead. He attended school in Hitterdal, MN, graduating from Hitterdal High School. After graduation, Wayne joined the U.S. Navy on July 12, 1963. He attended the U.S. Naval Hospital Corps School in San Diego, CA, graduating as an Honor man. He was stationed in Yokosuka and Yokohoma, Japan, and then served in the Vietnam War from 1966-1967 as a
medic. After his honorable discharge, Wayne moved back to Moorhead.

Wayne then began attending Moorhead State University (MSUM) in 1967, graduating Magna Cum Laude, in 1971. He also received a certificate from Concordia College in Moorhead, as a hospital and nursing home administrator.

On August 29, 1969, Wayne was united in marriage to Sharon Davis at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal. To this union, three children were born, Shannon, Pete, and Kimberly. Over the years, Wayne served as a nursing home administrator at Villa Maria, Fargo, hospital administrator at Clarkfield, MN and at the Grant County Hospital in Elbow Lake, MN, and then as a nursing home administrator at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND, and Parkside Nursing Home in Lisbon, ND, before retiring in 2008. Wayne received the Long Term Care Association Administrator of the Year Award in 2006.

Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time on the family farm.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon; children, Shannon (Shawn) Johnson, Moorhead, Pete (Trudy) Hendrickson, Cheboygan, MI, and Kimberly (Jeremy) Anderson, Glyndon, MN; grandchildren, Nevada, Keagan, Kaley, Braydan, Hunter, Skyler, Bridgette, Dannikka and Graesyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith.

Visitation: Thursday, February 27, 2014, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a 6:30 PM, Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead.

Funeral Service: Friday, February 28, 2014, at 11:00 AM, in Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, MN.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
