Derrick E. Ellis, age 21, of Rockford passed away Sunday February 23, 2014. Born on July 26, 1992 in Rockford.
He is survived by his mother, Freda L. Ellis (Wilson); girlfriend, Stacey Griep; son, O'mareon Griep Ellis; siblings, Shaneka (fiance Walter Meyer) Ellis, Melissa Piggues and James D. Piggues; as well as several nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
He is predeceased by his grandmother, Norma Wilson; grandfather, Tom Emmanuel Wilson; and aunt, Carolyn Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 620 N Alpine Rd, Rockford, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 12 noon.
Interment at Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Christenson Funeral Home & Crematory, 925 3rd Ave. Rockford. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family.
