Shirley Quick, 81, of Catlin passed away on Feb. 28, 2014, at 12:40 a.m. at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

She was born on July 7, 1932 in Danville, the daughter of Eli and Edna Mildred Hubert Haurez Jr.

She married Walter Byron "Barney" English on May 27, 1950.

She then married John A. Dickson who preceded her in death in 1980.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Karen Elizabeth English.

She is survived by by one son, Erick (Crystal) English; three daughters, Deborah (Larry) Wickens, Margaret English and Beth (James) Wheat; one brother, Jack (Evelyn) Haurez; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Danville High School and Danville Area Community College nursing program. She began her career as a surgical nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital before owning her own swimming pool retail business for over 20 years.
