Robert was born in LaFayette, Georgia on January 31, 1922, the son of George W. and Henrietta (Kemp) Oglesby. He was raised and educated in Georgia and later attended Utica College. From there he went on to serve his country with the US Army. On April 6, 1940, Robert married Mildred J. Brown in Georgia. Mrs. Oglesby passed away in 1989. He had worked for Savage Arms and later for Chicago Pneumatic. For many years, Robert also ran a local amusement ride company with his business partner, Robert Foley. He was a member of the Sauquoit Mason Lodge # 150 and the Whitestown American Legion Post # 1113. Robert was of the Methodist faith.
