Master Sgt. David L. Poirier, 52, of North Smithfield, R.I., died Feb. 28, from a non-combat related incident currently under investigation. He was assigned to the 157th Operations Support Squadron, Pease Air National Guard Base, N.H.
He is survived by his wife, Kim (Nelson) Poirier, of Salem, children, Andrew Poirier of Concord, Nicole Poirier of Newmarket, and Bradley Poirier of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; step-children, Kevin Forzese of Exeter and Dillon Forzese of Boston; brothers, Robert and his wife, Lou-Ann Poirier, of Loudon, Charles and his wife, Jeanne Poirier, of No. Smithfield, R.I., John and his wife, Michelle Poirier, of Harrisville, R.I. and Kenneth and his wife, Anne Poirier, of No. Smithfield, R.I.; and many nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Eliana, Kai and Olivia Forzese. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 9, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. Funeral services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests donations to be made to Veterans Count in Dave's name at vetscount.org.
