Edwin H. Arnold, "Ed" 92 of South Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 at a South Sioux City Care Center. Services will be 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Burial with military graveside service will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Becker – Hunt Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Ed was born July 17, 1921 in Niobrara, Nebraska the son of Merle and Esther (Darlin) Arnold. He graduated from Niobrara High School in 1940. He then helped his father farm. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged June 11, 1946. He then returned to Lyons, Nebraska where his folks had moved and went back to farming with his father and brother Bob. He married Eva McKernan December 27, 1958 in South Sioux City. She brought eight children to the marriage. They adopted a son Kevin. They moved to South Sioux City to live here. Ed was employed as a welder at Prince Manufacturing at the time of his retirement. Eva died January 30, 1998. Ed married Ordelle Polkinghorn August 10, 2001 in St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux City. Ed and Ordelle like to travel, go camping and liked listening to Western Music. Survivors include his wife Ordelle, four sons: James (Joann) McKernan of Concord, NE, Robert (Karen) of South Sioux City, Dennis of Sioux City, Kevin (Shelly) Arnold of Sioux City, four daughters: Ellen Perdue and Elaine Williams both of Sioux City, Patricia Kampfe of South Sioux City, Veronica Grijalba of Phoenix, AZ, Several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, two step-sons: Dan Taubert and Terry (Debbie) Taubert and a step-daughter Connie Wingert. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Eva, a son Richard, an infant brother and two sisters: Joan and Dorothy and a step-daughter Kathy Green. Pallbearers will be Bill Grijalba, Josh Arnold, Elwin McKernan, Tony Arnold, Roger and Russell McKernan
