Sandra was born to Alberta Ann Hayes and Joseph Potokar. She had 7 siblings; four from Alberta Ann's first marriage that resulted in a tragic tuberculosis death of Howard V. DeRossett who died at the age of 29. Alberta Ann re-married Joseph Potokar and had four more children. Following "Birdie's" own accidental death in 1952 at the age of 34, the children were left with Joe Potokar who placed them in the local catholic orphanage. They remained in the orphanage until Joseph met another woman who would take only the Potokar children into her home, Juanita. Alberta Ann's oldest daughter Alice was removed from the orphanage, and married George Leighton. They subsequently moved near Boise, Idaho.
Out of 7 siblings, only four remain alive; Judith Ann DeHerrera, Jane Louise Schnedler and Louis Delmar Potokar, as well as Howard Kenneth DeRossett of North Carolina. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Alberta Ann Potokar, brothers George DeRossett, Richard DeRossett and sister Alice Leighton, as well as her second husband "Skeeter" Menzie.

At some point in the future, her family will distribute her remains into the Pacific Ocean in a family ceremony. Sandy leaves behind two loving daughters, Sherry Corcoran (husband Timothy) and Christa O'Shaughnessy (husband Patrick) and four grandchildren.

She married first Joseph Calabrese in 1970, and in 1995 married Harold Dean "Skeeter" Menzie who passed in 2005.

We will miss her quick wit and how she valued her family.
