On December 31, 1874 she married Louis Eugene Palmer in the parlor of her parent's home on Seward Street in Hudson.
The following was published in the "Mexico Independent," (Mexico, New York) January 11, 1875:
"We have received cards announcing the marriage of Mr. Louis E. Palmer to Miss Clara A. Scarritt, daughter of Mr. James Scarritt, formerly our partner in the Independent. Our best wishes attend them. Clara was a pet of ours, and we hope she will not grow old so fast as it appears to us she must have done since we led her by the hand, a little child. That seems little longer ago then yesterday."
Mrs. Palmer was a devout Christian and a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Rochester.
She lived with her husband over their jewelry store at 415 1/5 Main Street, Rochester. She was the mother of eight children.
