"Charles Iver Olsen, 72, of 261 West 4800 South St., died Thursday at 2:35 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of cerebral hemorrhage.
Mr. Olsen was born June 23, 1877, in Mills Center, Brown County, Wis., a son of Ole S. and Mary Olsen. He came to Utah when he was a youth and first worked at the Murray Smelter.
He was married to Sarah Mary Randall Sept. 14, 1898, in Salt Lake City.
Besides working at the smelter, he was employed with the Ryan Fruit Company and was Murray School lunch supervisor for three years prior to his retirement.
Besides his widow, he is survived by eight daughters Merle Ince, Holladay; Mrs. Mary Cahoon, Vashen, Wash.; Mrs. Sara Sanborn, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ethel Morby, Murray; Mrs. Ruth Panson, Murray; Mrs. Eva Richards, Murray; three sons, Charles E. Olsen, San Francisco; George W. and Robert V Olsen, Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Will A. Olsen, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Andrew Olsen, Murray.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Murray First Ward chapel. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening until 8:30 p.m. and Monday prior to services at 4760 South State St.
Burial will be in Murray City Cemetery."
