Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery near Doniphan.
Visitation with family present will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Adams was born Jan. 23, 1917, in rural Hall County near Rosedale to Frank L. and Hattie (Moore) Adams.
Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Mia Adams of Marshalltown, Iowa, and a daughter, Mary Jo Blase of Spalding.
Other survivors include two grandsons, Travis J. Kolar of Cedar Rapids and Marc G. Kolar of Spaulding.
He attended county school and graduated from the Doniphan High School. He earned his bachelor of science degree in 1939 from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He married Goldie Fossberg on Sept. 8, 1940, in Hordville. Goldie passed away on May 21, 1998. He was a pharmacist at Bert's Pharmacy in Hastings for 72 years, retiring in 2011.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lions Club and the Nebraska Pharmaceutical Association. John enjoyed gardening, traveling and making candy and jellies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Goldie; three brothers and a sister.
