Leon Travis, 94, of Clay City, died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Mr. Travis was born December 15, 1919, in Clay County, the son of George L. and Ida (Scrugham) Travis. He married Revetta J. Crackel in Louisville on December 17, 1940. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2010.

Leon was a lifetime farmer and a charter member of the Clay City Lions Club. He was a member of Clay City Christian Church.

Mrs. Travis is survived by his daughters, Jane Ann Smith and Joyce Boxdorfer; son, Joe Travis; four grandchildren: three great-grandchildren; Dorothy Bayler, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one bother and four sisters.

Funeral services were held at Clay City Christian Church in Clay City with Pastor Darrell Brandon and Minister Ron Payne officiating.

Burial followed in Clay City Cemetery.

Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City was in charge of the arrangements.
