Wilma K. Bridges Hartman was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Walters, to Grover Richman and Emma Lavada McCleary Bridges. Wilma grew up at Walters where she married Jimmy Stanley Hartman on Feb. 8, 1958. She graduated from WHS in the Class of 1961and eventually went on to become an RN through an associate's degree at Cook County College, Gainesville, Texas. She later received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.

After raising their kids in Walters, the couple moved around in Oklahoma and Texas with even a short stay in Colorado Springs, Colo. But she always considered Walters her home and has lived back here for the past 13 years. Besides nursing she has worked various other jobs including running a flower shop, a T-shirt shop, working at Parrish Insurance and United Grocery. She also sold real estate and wrote grants for the City of Walters and Walters Public Schools while serving as school nurse.

While in high school she served as drum major and as a young adult she played pitcher in a ladies softball league. She has enjoyed gardening, remodeling, dancing and living life. She was an avid sports fan and supported her grandkids at all their athletic events. She loved her family. Wilma was a member of the Church of Christ and had also been a member of the Walters Chamber of Commerce, serving a term as president.
