David Loyd McBee was born on July 28, 1949 in Austin, Texas and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 7, 2013 in Burnet, Texas.

David grew up in the Jollyville area of Austin when it was still considered "the country". He attended Pond Springs Elementary and then graduated from Reagan High School. He lived in the Austin and Round Rock areas in his younger years, and then moved to the Lake Buchanan area where he loved to fish and hunt. He was a member of the Cross and Spurs Cowboy Church and staked out his special spot every Sunday.

David had a sweet and caring soul and would gladly give you the shirt off his back. For many years he was involved in the Hill Country Angels which provided food and Christmas gifts to those less fortunate. When fundraisers were held for friends and neighbors, with health or other special needs, David was right there to help and contribute. His kindness touched many lives and enriched the hearts of those around him.

David is survived by his two daughters Kelly and Maggie and grandson Jack, brother Terry McBee and wife Patty of Pflugerville, sister Gayla Kernan and husband Phil of Pittsburg, Texas, sister-in-law Sue Glover of Kingsland and his best friends Linda and Rick Grantham of Buchanan Dam, Texas, as well as numerous friends, nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Betty McBee and his wife Patricia McBee.

A celebration of David's life will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 2:30 pm at the Edge Water Resort Recreation Hall in Buchanan Dam Texas, located at 224 Winding Way directly off HWY 261. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Cross and Spurs Cowboy Church, Attn: Ken Barrington, 101 Primrose Lane, Marble Falls, Texas 78654. An online register may be found at www.PutnamCares.com.

Special thanks to the care provided by the nurses and doctors at the Seton Highland Lakes ICU Unit where David spent his last few days. Also to his dear friends Larry Rutledge and Pam Satterwhite Kessel who provided email updates on his condition.
