Carolyn Angeline Schulz, 70, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, April 5, 2011, at River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa.

Carolyn was born on March 19, 1941, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of William E. and Garnet M. Baxter (nee Schaffer). She moved to Keokuk in 1947. She married Roger D. Schulz on July 2, 1961 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk, IA. She worked at Ricker's Bakery as a retail clerk. In addition to being a loving housewife, she was an active member of the Salvation Army, working in the office and the thrift store. Carolyn was a leader with the Sunbeam organization of the Salvation Army. She was self employed and worked in upholstery for 25 years. Carolyn was also an expert carpenter, remodeling her own homes, and assisting friends and relatives in multiple renovations. She had attended the Assembly of God church.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Roger D. Schulz of Keokuk, Iowa; one son, Dennis D. Schulz and his wife Joan of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Debbie Carlton and her husband Rick of Keokuk, Iowa and
Cindy Sturm and her husband Bob of Argyle, Iowa; six grandchildren: Christopher D. Schulz and his wife Deena, Nathaniel A. Schulz, Timothy T. Carlton, Aaron M. Carlton, Candace M. Meredith, and Bradley W. Meredith; three brothers: Joseph Benedict, Edward Benedict and his wife Shirley, and John Baxter; two sisters: Jackie Winn and her husband Bill and Vesta Todd and her husband John; five step-grandchildren: Heather Temple and her husband John, Sara Kniffen, Ryan Sturm, Tyler Sturm, and Katy Sturm; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Alice Baxter, two sisters, Judy Baxter and Lois Holmes and one brother Bill Benedict.

A celebration of her life will be at 10:30am Saturday, April 9, 2011 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on Blondeau Street with Rev. Dan Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
