Joe joined the Houston Fire Department in March 1967 where he dedicated almost 38 years of service and retired as a Jr. Captain. Joe dedicated countless hours supporting and volunteering for the Cypress Fairbanks Livestock Show Association, Joe and Gloria resided in Brenham, Texas for over 20 years. While in Brenham Joe pursued his dream of raising show cattle. Joe’s passion was to mentor and assist the youth with their FFA endeavors. Joe willingly volunteered his time, talents, knowledge and support at various cattle shows all over the country. Joe was strong-willed, determined and always accomplished what he set out to do.
Joe will always be remembered by Shelby and Kelsey for his strong and active role he played in their daily life, including many hours and weekends watching, supporting and teaching his girls on and off the softball fields. His greatest passion and accomplishment was traveling many miles up and down the roads hauling show cattle to various shows with the family and making great memories along the way. His memory will forever be a blessing to his family and many friends.
Joe is predeceased by his wife, father, mother and brothers. He is survived by his daughter Crystal Pitts and husband Brent along with his girls (granddaughters) Shelby and Kelsey. His sister Peggy Tanner, brother Harold Cobb and sister in law Sharon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
