Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Moody Gilman

The remains of Mrs. Elizabeth M.
Gilman, who passed away at her
home in Greenwood, Mass. Friday
morning, January 3, were brought
here for internment in the family lot,
Wednesday morning, January 8. The
funeral was held from her Green
wood home Monday at two o'clock.
Elizabeth Maude Chase was born in
Sheffield, March 16, 1860, a daughter
of Joseph and Mary (Snellings)
Chase. On November 25, 1880, she
was united in marriage at Sheffield
to Sylvester Huntington Moody of
Charleston. After making their home
in East Burke and Lyndon they came
to Concord to reside in 1884. To
them was born one daughter Verna
Louise, (Mrs. George Plummer) of
Greenwood. Mr. Moody passed away
in 1907, and the following year Mrs.
Moody and daughter moved to Dorchester, Mass.,
where she continued
in the millinery business, which she
had; conducted successfully there for
several years. On February 12, 1918,
she was united in marriage to Joseph
M, Gilman of Greenwood, Mass., at
Tampa, Fla., where they remained
until Mr. Gilman's death on April 13,
when Mrs. Gilman returned to the
Greenwood home. She was a woman
of pleasing personality, and will be
mourned by a large circle of friends.
An artist of ability she devoted much
time to, this work, in earlier years.
She was a charter member of Adah
-Chapter, No. 39, O. E. S. of this
place. Besides the daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. George Plummer, she leaves: to mourn her loss
three sisters and two brothers, Mrs.
Bernard Hoyt, Lyndon, Mrs. Nellie
Patch, Pittsford, Pa., Mrs. Janet
Black, Los Angeles, Cal., Harvey
Chase, Plainfield, Harrison Chase,
West Burke.
