A sad case of drowning occurred at Big Stone City Wednesday afternoon. George and Homer Brewer, aged respectively 18 and 13 years, started skating on the lake, which was partially frozen over, but getting on the thin ice one of them went through, and the other in attempting to help his brother also broke through and were unable to extricate themselves. Both boys could swim and they struggled for some time to get out, but the ice would break as they attempted to climbed upon it, and though the accident was witnessed by another boy, before he was able to help them or summon assistance they sank beneath the water. The bodies were recovered shortly after. The two boys are sons of a widow, who has for a number of years attempted to support a family of children, of whom these boys were the oldest, an they were just beginning to be of material assistance to her.
