DEATH IN THE LAKE!
----------
WHILE SKATING YESTERDAY AFTERNOON GEO. AND HOMER BREWER DROWNED AT BIG STONE CITY
----------
BODIES RECOVERED SOON AFTERWARD

Two bright young boys, brothers, the only hope and comfort of a widowed mother, met their death yesterday at 4 pm by drowning in Big Stone Lake. Venturesome and daring, George aged 18, and Homer, aged 14, living near the lake shore in Big Stone City, put on their skates yesterday afternoon to try the new ice, which spread out over the lake, smooth and glistening in the bright sunlight. Along the shore, the ice seemed safe enough, and gradually the two brothers, alone in their sport, ventured further out, a few feet at a time, until a weak spot was reached and both went in, just how will never be known, as there were no witnesses of the awful catastrophe. People living near by had seen the boys on the ice and missing them shortly after, a search was made when the broken ice and evidences of a struggle were discovered and very shortly the bodies were recovered in about nine feet of water and less than ten rods from the shore.

Mrs Brewer, the widowed mother of the two boys, is an old resident of Big Stone City, and has the deepest sympathy of numerous friends in this dreadful catastrophe. The funeral will occur tomorrow at 3 pm.
