On Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at approximately 5:30 PM the Fulton County Sheriff's Office was notified about motor vehicle accident approximately 20 miles west of Hickman on the Levee Road. Once on the scene officers found a 2001 Dodge pickup overturned on the river side of the levee. The vehicle had just crossed the TN / KY state line and was heading east towards Hickman. Preliminary investigation shows that speed was a contributing factor; the vehicle ran left the gravel roadway and started traveling down the levee embankment. It appeared the driver appeared over corrected causing the vehicle to skew eventually causing it to flip multiple times finally coming to a rest upside down. The driver and passenger were both ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ricky R Mitchell, a white male, 51 years of age from Tiptonville, TN. The passenger was identified as Chuck E Mitchell, a white male, 52 years of age from Tiptonville, TN.

The Fulton County Coroner Matt Moss pronounced both subjects dead at the scene.
