Marcia L. Davidson, beloved wife of John, mother to Mark, Lynn and Alan, grandmother to DeLana, Leslie and Taylor and great grandmother to Ainsley, died after a short illness on Sunday, January 27, 2008. Marcia was born in Los Angeles, California on September 26, 1927, to Donald and Jeannette Kelly, grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School. Marcia attended Lindenwood College and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelors Degree in Bacteriology. She worked as a bacteriologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for two years. On the death of her father in 1949, she returned to Wichita Falls to teach high school chemistry. Following her marriage to John in 1954, she moved to Seneca Falls, New York, where John was stationed in the Air Force. Marcia was employed by Cornell University as a research assistant. She received a grant from the United States to solve a problem with a particular food being shipped to the Armed Forces. She solved the problem, and her research was published in a scientific journal. Upon moving to San Antonio, she taught at Robert E. Lee High School and was selected to initiate a health education pilot project in the Northeast School District. From thereon, she devoted her life to raising and enjoying her family, playing golf and traveling. Marcia was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, the Dominion and Sonterra Country Clubs, the Dominion Women's Forum, and the Assistance League of San Antonio, where she worked in the Operation School Bell division. Marcia was a natural golfer, scored two verified holes in one, was ace of the year in the Sonterra Women's Golf Association and many times champion of the 9-Hole Golf Group there. She finished her golfing career with the Dominion Country Club 9-Hole Golf Group. Marcia traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband, usually playing golf whenever they could. Marcia is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, attorney, John W. Davidson; sons: Mark Davidson and his wife, Laura in Corpus Christi; and Alan Davidson in Round Rock; daughter, Lynn Anderson and husband, Jim in Victoria; granddaughters: DeLana Mullins in Frisco; Leslie Davidson in Corpus Christi; and Taylor Anderson in Victoria; a great granddaughter, Ainsley Mullins; and her brother, Dr. Robert Kelly; nieces: Diane, Janice, Susan, Mary and their families.
